Pottery Barn Budget Dupes for the Bedroom

In: DECORATING, Decorating Tips & Tricks, High End Dupes, Shopping

Let me show you how you can refresh your bedroom and get the Pottery Barn style on a budget with my budget dupes for the bedroom! This post was updated 3/21/23

You’ve been looking for affordable bedroom decor ideas, but have found nothing that fits your style or budget. Well, I’m here to help! I’ve scoured the internet to bring you some of my favorite budget bedroom decor ideas. From bedding to wall art.

It’s no secret that I just love the whole Pottery Barn aesthetic. But with that being said I am a bargain hunter at heart..and I can’t with good conscious buy the Pottery Barn piece without first trying to see if I can find something similar for a lot less.

Pottery Barn vs. Budget-Friendly Bedroom Decor

I don’t know what it is about heading into August and then Fall which always puts the bug in me to change things up around my house a little bit. Maybe it’s because I have focused on my gardens and doing stuff outdoors all Summer long and basically ignored my house!!

Right now my bedroom has a gray upholstered headboard and mostly blue and gray everything else and I’m ready for a different vibe in the space come Fall.

I started out by scrolling the Pottery Barn website for some inspiration. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure exactly what I was looking for but I wanted to see what caught my eye.

What I was first drawn to was a wood and rattan headboard. From there I decided that I wanted to create a peaceful, neutral space for my bedroom.

Pottery Barn Look

Headboard | Wall Art | Duvet Cover | Terra Cotta Vase | Hand-Knotted Rug | Green Tree | Dome Table Lamp

I know everyone’s process is different when putting a room together but for me, it helps to find a rug to anchor the space before I move on to the other accessories. This Pottery Barn rug is just gorgeous but comes with a hefty price tag!!

What really grabbed my attention as I was scrolling the site was the soft muted blue shade and how it plays off with the warm beige and camel tones.

The glass lamp and floor tree will break up the neutral and wood tones of the space.

  • Sausalito Cane Headboard– $1,099 (Queen)
  • Inlaid Wood – White & Camel Wall Art– $599
  • Belgian Flax Linen Duvet Cover-$279 (Queen)
  • Terra Cotta Vase– $149
  • Nicolette Hand-Knotted Rug 8×10– $1499
  • Faux Green Leaf Tree- $399
  • Aria Dome Table Lamp– $299

Budget Look for Less

Woven Headboard | Beige Line Wall Art | Linen Duvet | Terra Cotta Vase (updated 12/22) | Multi/Ivory Rug | Ficus Tree | Glass Lamp | Lampshade

Well, this was fun finding the Pottery Barn dupes!! I think I did a pretty good job of keeping the same vibe as the expensive room refresh look.

For around $900 less the woven headboard from Target will give your bedroom a very similar look. Especially once the bed is made up and the pillows are on!

In case it’s not on your radar, you can find so many great-looking and affordable wall art options over on Etsy. I’ll be the first to admit that I sometimes forget to look for things over there…then go down the rabbit hole once I’m on!!!!

One spot that I always check when I’m searching for affordable vases is Target. All of the Threshold brand lines are on top of the trending looks that you will see from the higher-end retailers like Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, & Restoration Hardware.

my best tip:

I’ll let you all in on one of my secrets for finding the best prices on rugs….ready? First, there are a few big manufacturers that produce rugs that you will find under different style names across quite a few different retailers. So if you find a rug on say Amazon, right-click and do a Google lens search and see if the rug pops up on other sites for less. Another thing that I also try is taking the exact name of the rug, I’ll use the rug here: “Hathaway Muli/Ivory Rug” and put it in Google search and it will pull up images and prices of the rug on different websites.

Rugs are also one thing that tends to change prices from day to day too so it’s worth it to click around a little bit. Today Home Depot has the best price on the rug I’m sharing in my budget-friendly bedroom.

  • Palmdale Woven Headboard (Queen)- $225 (Target)
  • Simple Beige Line Wall Art– $94.67(Etsy)
  • Linen Duvet Cover- $109 (Target)
  • Terra Cotta Vase– $30 (Similar at Kirkland 3/23)
  • Hathaway Multi/Ivory Rug 8×10– $226 (Home Depot)
  • Triangle Ficus Tree- $150 (Similar at Target 3/23))
  • Tall Vase w Handle– $40 (Target updated 12/22)
  • Glass Lamp Base -$47 (Target)
  • Lamp Shade- $16.50 (Target)

One of my goals, when I started Cottage On Bunker Hill, was to show my readers how to create a home that they love that is also attainable for all of us “normal folk” that don’t have a gazillion dollars to decorate!! That’s why I love putting together these “look for less” and doing so many DIY dupes of things I see in the expensive catalogs.
