Welcome to this week’s edition of the Cottage On Bunker Hill Weekly. This is my online magazine where I share a little behind-the-scenes, what’s new on the website, great shopping finds, and things I saw online over the week that I think you will love.
What’s Happening
Today is my birthday and I’ve been reflecting back on the past year…and the year ahead!!
I went to brunch with my husband at a pretty seaside restaurant the Seasglass in Salisbury, Ma. The ocean was so calm today, it looked like glass.
After we ate we took a walk over at Salisbury State Park Reservation. It was a gorgeous October day! The beach is one of my favorite places to be.
There is nothing like breathing in salt air for a few minutes to clear the head!!!
This giant round kite was mesmerizing!! It was huge and there was enough of an ocean wind to keep it spinning pretty fast.
We really enjoyed the glorious Fall weather this weekend…but we had to stay close to home because there are millions of leaf peepers in New Hampshire this week because of its peak foliage up at the mountains.
On Saturday afternoon my husband and I took a ride a few minutes from us to take a walk at Great Bay Reserve. Saltwater from the Gulf of Maine meets fresh water from local rivers here.
I love the combination of walking through the woods and along the saltwater marshes…it’s like the best of both New Hamshire worlds!
Seriously, I am obsessed with this giant scarecrow lady around the corner from me!! IT IS GIGANTIC!! I wish I knew how they made the skirt..I think I need to become friends with them before next Fall.

I snapped this picture today. That maple tree is my favorite tree in the yard…and it never dissapoints in the Fall!!
Can you see how tall all my zinnias are in the front right section of my flower garden??? They are taller than me now! We came within a couple of degrees of a frost last night too, I really hope I get another week or two of my flowers!!
It was a tough Summer here in the garden between the high temps and the drought conditions in New England. Actually right from the cold Spring, we had strange growing conditions!!
Some of my flowers really struggled to get going. My dahlias are mostly going to end up in the “better luck next year” column!
Could you please look at that sad, tiny plant in the first picture???? Friends, I took that today! The plant marker is taller than the dahlia plant!!!
And yes, that is a gorgeous flower in the second picture, but I don’t know how that plant is standing up since the entire plant is just about a foot tall!!

There is nothing that I love more than to see you all try out one of my projects!! It warms this New England girl’s heart!!
This week Susan Kacsits of Michigan made my Pumpkin Garland. With her permission, I’m sharing it with you all.
She nailed it!
I encourage you to send me your pics of any of the projects or ideas you might have tried from Cottage on Bunker Hill!! I seriously would love to see them.
Also, if you are doing any cool DIY projects in your home or making something that you’d like to share drop me an email and a picture so I can share it. You can drop me a message through my Contact Page or email me at jennifer@cottageonbunkerhill.com.
Yes, I know it’s October But…
Walmart has put out this year’s Christmas merchandise. There are some really stylish new items too. Quite a few have a Pottery Barn/ Studio McGee expensive vibe to them too.
One thing that I loved was all of the wooden ornaments and trees. They will sell out quickly!
Another new addition is a higher quality of greenery. Walmart is now doing the real-touch type that has that latex feel.
The Black & White Bow Swag w/ Metal Bells is pretty! Bells are so hot in Christmas decor too but I love the iron look of these as opposed to the brass type of bells that were the rage last year.
My store only had one of the felted garlands and it looks like it’s available in-store only. It’s $14.98 and you couldn’t even DIY for that price. It would make a great banner to hang across a mantle or across a doorway too.
This Week On The Blog
This week was full of new projects and ideas!! Here is what I shared this week…
fall front porch
One of my favorite things to do each year is to decorate my front porch for Fall. This year I added so many pumpkins and gourds. Check it all out!
fall garden wreath
LEe & Co.
DIY FALL Bowl Filler
My Talented Friends
A couple of my gal pals have some fun stuff going on this week too!
What a great idea!
Do you have a couple of the Dollar Tree pumpkin wreath frames in your craft stash?? Wendy over at WM Design House has such a creative idea to use them to make a centerpiece!!
You could also personalize it with whatever greens and flowers fit your style.
Who else loves Fall because it’s time to start baking again??? I swear I don’t bake a thing over the Summer but once it gets chilly I love the smell of yummy things baking in the oven.
This Apple Fritter Monkey Bread is one of my son’s favorite Fall treats!! I mean….just look at it!!!!
Stay tuned this week for a few new DIY projects, my final garden tour of 2022, & a few other fun things!!
HI Jennifer! I wish we were neighbors! You just make me giggle. You definitely need to make friends with your neighbor! going back for the monkey bread!
Happy Thursday or is it Wednesday? It is beautiful here in Colorado right now and surprisingly the squirrels have not attacked my pumpkins!
Not that I want them to but I can’t believe they have been outside for 2 weeks and have been unbothered by critters!! I do have lots of hawks around this year so it’s helped control the population of things that eat my garden!!
Happy, happy birthday sweet friend. I hope you had the best day. Cheers to another year around the sun! And thank you for sharing my apple fritter monkey bread. Enjoy!😘
Seriously, it’s such a yummy recipe!! You Midwestern girls can sure cook!!!
