As the holiday season approaches, I love transforming my home into a cozy and inviting winter wonderland. This year, I focused on creating a vintage-inspired Christmas entryway that would welcome guests with warmth and charm.
By combining vintage finds, budget-friendly decor, and a touch of DIY, I was able to create a space that is both stylish and inviting.
Vintage Christmas: A Cozy and Inviting Entryway
Gather Your Materials
A Mix of Old and New
To create a charming vintage Christmas entryway, I combined a mix of vintage and budget-friendly items. By incorporating both old and new pieces, I was able to achieve a layered and timeless look. I’m using decor that I already have, this holiday season I’m trying to spend $0 on anything new.

Sourcing Vintage Decor
One of the joys of decorating with a vintage theme is the thrill of the hunt. I love scouring local thrift stores, flea markets, and vintage bazaars for unique and affordable vintage finds.
For this entryway, I gathered a few different pieces that I have bought over the past few years including a collection of antique children’s books that added a touch of nostalgia.
You will also see a cool vintage barrel, old lantern, chippy metal pitcher, and a rusty mouse doorstop.
None of the pieces were expensive but add instant charm to the entryway.
Budget-Friendly Decor
To complement the vintage pieces, I incorporated several budget-friendly items like a cute red Santa mailbox (Here are 2 similar Santa mailboxes: Target & Amazon), a Santa print (purchased years ago at The Christmas Tree Shop…if you live in New England you know and miss them!), simple grapevine trees , and a few other small pieces that I have accumulated over the years.
Natural Elements
To create a festive look I added faux cedar garland, various fresh greenery clipped from the woods, dried flowers from my garden, red berries, and a few dried orange slices.
Decorating The Mirror: A Layered Look
To create a visually appealing backdrop for my entryway decor, I draped a piece of faux cedar garland over the arched mirror. The natural texture of the garland provided the perfect base for adding other natural elements like flowers, eucalyptus, and dried orange slices. By layering these elements, I was able to create a more interesting and eye-catching display.
On the front of the mirror, I hung a grapevine deer head that I found at Michael’s a couple of years ago using a small Command hook to hang it. For a more festive touch I tied a thing red velvet ribbon around the neck and tucked in small dried flowers.
Decorating The Entryway Table for Christmas
In our small house, the entryway table is my favorite place to decorate seasonally. This spot can be seen from the living room and kitchen so I love to make it a little “extra”.
Table Top Christmas Decor: Creating Cozy Charm
This small entryway is about to be transformed into a charming vintage Christmas display! The first step was to place a piece of faux cedar garland across the back of the table letting it drape down both sides.
Then I just had fun layering in the grapevine trees with the other mini trees that I had along the back corners of the small entry table.
To add a touch of vintage charm, I created a small vignette using a couple of antique children’s books. I propped one of the books open and leaned it against an iron mouse doorstop.
On the other side of the table, I filled the Santa mailbox with fresh greenery, pinecones, birch twigs, bells, and an orange slice.
Adding Vintage Touches: Bottom Shelf
On the bottom shelf of the entry table, I placed a fun wooden barrel that I found at a local vintage bazaar last year. To complement it, I added a rustic lantern and a chippy green metal pitcher, both of which were secondhand finds.
And to add a touch of holiday cheer, I filled the barrel and the pitcher with fresh pine, greenery, and red winter berries.
Vintage Items for a Charming Christmas Entryway
Here are some vintage items you can use to decorate your entryway this Christmas:
- Vintage Mirrors: A unique mirror can be the focal point of your entryway. Look for ornate frames, antique mirrors, or mirrors with unique shapes.
- Antique Books: Stacked or displayed in a vintage bookcase, antique books can add a touch of charm.
- Vintage Picture Frames: Fill these with family photos or holiday-themed prints.
- Antique Vases and Urns: Use these to display fresh or dried flowers, or fill them with ornaments.
- Vintage Wooden Signs: These can display festive messages or simple holiday greetings.
- Vintage Candlesticks: Add a warm glow to your entryway with vintage candlesticks and candles.
- Vintage Figurines and Statues: Consider angels, snowmen, or Santa Claus figurines.
- Antique Door Knockers/Doorstops: A unique door knocker can add a touch of elegance to your entryway.
- Vintage Lanterns: Fill these with candles or battery-operated lights for a cozy ambiance.
- Antique Keys: These can be displayed in a bowl or hung on a wall.
