Christmas Village Houses

a gold and white Christmas village

Run to your local Michael’s and grab a few of their unfinished birdhouses to make your own Christmas village houses! This is an easy DIY project…all you need is white acrylic craft paint, metallic craft paint, and fine metallic glitter!

Faux Mercury Glass Ornaments

diy mercury glass ornaments

One of my most popular projects on Pinterest this holiday season! I turned a set of clear plastic ornaments into faux mercury glass with paint. You can either hang them on your Christmas tree or display them on your table in a bowl with greenery…both ways look beautiful!

Gingerbread House Doormat

This is a perfect idea for a cute hostess gift for a holiday party or just to dress up your own front door!! Grab a cheap plain coir rug (I’ve seen them at Target, Lowe’s, and Home Depot). You don’t have to be the best artist on the planet either…most of it is straight lines and curves.

Bottlebrush Tree Wreath

Here’s a popular one from this Christmas DIY season! I bought the set of 48 bottle brush trees on Amazon for around $17 and used a wreath that I already had to make this pretty and on-trend wreath.

DIY Gift Wrap

A few beautiful ideas on how to DIY gift wrap using natural touches like dried flowers pinecones, wood slices, and berries. If you are a fan of unique gift-wrapping ideas you will love this one!

Jingle Bell Wreath

Modern jingle bell wreath

My readers love this project! My modern take on the jingle bell wreath. It starts with a few different-sized jingle bells and some spray paint. This is one of my favorites too!

Pine Cone Swag

Pine Cone Door Hanger

This pine cone door swag is the #1 all-time most popular project here on Cottage on Bunker Hill!! Grab a bag of pine cones and your favorite roll of holiday ribbon and make one for your own door. I’ve made one with a more neutral ribbon to keep up all winter long too.

Botanical Ornaments

Grab a box of big clear ornaments…either plastic or glass…and make a few of these botanical ornaments. Add dried flowers, faux greenery, and fake snow or whatever you have on hand to DIY your own set of ornaments for much less than the expensive catalog stores sell them for.

Vintage Angel Ornaments

These vintage angel ornaments are such a beautiful addition to your Christmas tree or as an addition to the top of one of your packages this holiday season. Using mini grapevine wreaths, free angel printables, and flowing chiffon ribbon.

Winter Gallery Wall

winter gallery wall in living room

See how I added a few DIY art projects to my living room gallery wall for this winter. This project was inspired by a picture in the Pottery Barn winter lookbook. Oh, and I upcycled old canvases and frames so it cost me nothing to do…just a little time, paint, and a printer!!

Dried Orange Slices

green vintage books

Dried orange slices just look plain pretty for the holidays!! All you need is a bag of oranges and a few hours to let them dry in the oven. I’ve used them in my garlands and trees…plus to add a festive touch throughout my kitchen.

Gingerbread Man Wreath

This is such a popular DIY project here!! Made with cinnamon salt dough gingerbread men and puffy paint. A fun project to make with the kids too.

Jennifer, you have so many great projects here. I think my favorite is the mercury glass ornaments. It’s such a cost saving project. The real mercury glass ornaments can run $10-$15 a piece. I know because of buying some of the years. Merry Christmas!
