Add a touch of luxury to your Christmas decor with modern metallics. Modern metallics, such as copper, bronze, rose gold, and mercury glass, are a great way to add some sparkle and sophistication to your Christmas decor. These metals are not as bright and shiny as traditional Christmas metals, such as silver and gold, so they can create a more warm and inviting atmosphere.
In this blog post, I will show you some easy ways to incorporate modern metallics into your Christmas decor. I will also share some tips on how to create a cohesive and stylish look.
Ways to Add Metallics To Your Christmas Decor
Using modern metallics in your Christmas decor is an easy way to add some sparkle to your home. I’m not talking about bright shiny metals…more coppers, bronzes, rose gold, and mercury glass.
Let me show you some easy ways that I have used metallics in my basically neutral home over the past couple of years to create a warm look for Christmas.

Adding Metal Christmas Bells
Do you want to add just a touch of metallics? Then gold or brass Christmas bells are a quick and easy way to go!
Single bells, garlands, and Christmas bell picks are readily available this year at all of the large retailers and craft stores.
My front door entrance is in the same area as my living room so I want to create a flow through the space when I decorate.
Above the wall mirror (Hobby Lobby) I added a small piece of cedar garland (I cut a 6 ft garland in half) and a gold bell pick ( they are on sale at Hobby Lobby for $2.40 right now but you have to get them in-store)
What a quick and affordable way to add a little gold to a garland!
Large jingle bells look perfect when mixed with natural pine cones and greenery in this vintage wooden recipe box.
Metallic Garlands
For some Christmas sparkle, I draped a rose gold bulb mini light garland and a gold bell garland across two large botanical prints.
The best part is that this look only cost me $20!! Both the bell garland and pre-lit garland are $10 each at Target this Christmas!
The bells in the garland were a little bit too bright gold for me so I gave them a quick wipe of Antique Gold Rub n Buff…it took about 5 minutes! Love that stuff!
Decorative Trees
One of my favorite ways that I love to add metallics to my otherwise neutral home at Christmas is with decorative trees.
On my console cabinet, I mixed different colored metallic trees: icy silver, mercury glass, and an antiqued gold tree. For an added Christmas glow I popped a small battery-operated candle under the base of the tall tree.
Here I used a pre-lit mercury glass tree along with a rattan cone tree. To add an added touch of metallic I wrapped gold and silver cording around the tree.
You can always DIY your own trees! All you need for this pinecone tree is a bag of mini pinecones, a foam cone, and a can of rose gold spray paint!
Here is another sparkly tree to DIY! I made this gold Christmas tree to add to my DIY Christmas Village. Using fine metallic glitter gives it a more modern look.
Metallic Vases
One thing that I love to add throughout my home at Christmas is vases of greenery and holiday stems. Using a DIY mercury glass vase creates a vintage feel to this vignette on my console table. I wrapped a gold velvet ribbon around the vase and placed it on a stack of old books.
A large bronze and copper vessel (it is really a ceramic thrift store find!) was perfect for creating this large arrangement of fresh greenery, pine cones, and seed pods. You can see how I upcycled this pretty ugly thrift store find for yourself.
Make Your Own Metal-Looking Nutcrackers
For a quick Christmas, DIY grab a couple of the large unfinished nutcrackers from either Hobby Lobby or Michaels and a can of metallic spray paint! You will save yourself lots of $$$!!
Add a Metallic Wreath
Add some sparkle to your door or wall with a metallic Christmas wreath. This Modern Jingle Bell wreath was my most popular Christmas DIY project last Christmas. It has rose gold, gold, and silver jingle bells.
You don’t even have to hang a wreath! This year I have the wreath resting on one of my bookcase shelves.
Metallic Christmas Ornaments
This is probably the easiest way to add metallic tones to your space this Christmas! Just a few metallic ornaments will make your tree sparkle this year! Here are a few of my favorite DIY ornaments that you can make for your tree this year.
These DIY Mercury Glass Ornaments are an affordable way to get that expensive look that you see in high-end catalogs.
I hope that I gave you a few decorating ideas that you can use to incorporate metallics into your home this Christmas.
