Tin Can Vase DIY

In: DIY Decorating Projects

Are you asking yourself..”Did Jen really say tin can vase??” Yes, yes I did and it came out really pretty!

I usually save these giant tin cans when I make a pot of sauce. They are so versatile…in the Winter I use them to toss out sand onto my walkway so I don’t slip on the ice!!

Also, These are the best canned tomatoes for making sauce…they are a local New England brand.

This post may include affiliate links; you can read my disclosure policy here.

After removing the label, I gave the can a coat of copper spray paint ( Colorshot Lucky Penney )

Once the paint was dry, I added a little detail to make the tin can vase look a bit aged. I dry brushed on a darker copper metallic acrylic paint and a black using a small chip brush.

To dry brush this can I dipped my chip brush into the paint lightly, tapped most of it off on a paper towel, then dabbed my brush onto the tin can.

Here’s a close-up of the tin can to see the detail of the paint.

Once the paint was dry, I added a pretty ribbon around the vase and popped in a tall plastic container of water before adding my flowers.

I cut hydrangeas, celosia, crabapple branches, and greenery from my yard to fill my new vase and made it the centerpiece of my dining table as part of my early Fall decorating look.

here are a few fun facts…

  1. I’ve lived in New England my entire life! This is good because the beach is my favorite place to be…even in the winter, I love to go breathe in the salt air.
  2. I am an EARLY BIRD!!! I rarely sleep past 4…it’s my favorite time of day and those wee hours are my most productive. (plus, I LOVE coffee!!)
  3. The Gilmore Girls is my favorite all-time TV show…I’ve seen every episode at least 20 times!! “You jump, I jump, Jack” is my #1 favorite. (I.Y.K.Y.K.)

Thanks friend!! I love everything by Pastene…I couldn’t find them a couple of months ago and bought another brand to make a pot of sauce and my son noticed his first bite!!
