The Weekly Rewind is where I get to share what has been going on behind the scenes, things I’ve seen while out shopping that I think you would all like, and inspiring pictures and projects from around the web.
What’s Been Happening
Honestly, I feel like I’ve spent the entire last week out in my garden! Everything has grown so much in a week here in New Hampshire, I can barely believe it!!
What a difference a week makes!! These were taken less than a week apart!! I never thought the trees were going to get their leaves…
I’m so happy I got 1 picture of my crabapple with blossoms because the day after we had big thunderstorms and all the petals were blown off!!
Do you have an Ocean State Job Lot near you? They are in Mass, NH, & Maine but I saw they are expanding down to PA and NJ this year so keep your eye out! It’s my go-to spot for super affordable planters. There’s usually an entire section of Italian terra cotta pots and dishes for the best prices I’ve ever seen too!
I fell in love with these lime-washed cement planters. I bought all 3 sizes. The small was $8 and the giant one (on the bottom shelf) was only $24!!! It weighs a ton and looks like the ones on Pottery Barn or Terrain that run hundreds!!
I love taking detailed pictures of the plants in my garden. Such a simple thing but it brings me so much joy! Over the winters here when it’s freezing and miserable outside I enjoy scrolling through all my flower pictures.
What’s New on the Blog
I upcycled a couple of old planters with paint and created the cutest corner in my garden! It’s amazing what a little paint can do. It felt so good to plant flowers too.
A really fun project I did this week was making this fake “sea glass” rope bead garland. I was trying to create a glass bead look and I love the results! When you start a project you can never be 100% sure that what you imagine in your mind will translate to real life…I’ve had plenty of Pinterest fails!!
stacy- bricks n blooms
My friend Stacy from Bricks N Blooms who you have seen me share often here is in the finals for the Cottages & Bungalows Curb Appeal Contest!! If she wins her entry will be featured in their magazine. I would love it if you could take a minute and vote for her…I mean just look at that curb appeal!!!! She totally deserves that beauty in print!!
Patriotic Ideas
Can you believe it’s almost Memorial Day and you know after that July 4th will be here in a quick minute!! I have a few patriotic DIY decor ideas that I will be working on this week (just stocked up on the red, white, and blue supplies this morning!!)
I ordered this 1776 flag from Amazon yesterday and just picked up the bunting at Michael’s this morning (the patriotic stuff is 40% off this week). They only had 1 of that adorable fan wreaths at Michael’s and one of the fans was missing but it is super cute in real life (but it’s paper so it would have to be used inside or somewhere protected from the elements)
I love the revolutionary war era flag…New Englanders are proud of our rebellious history and fighting the British way back when to gain our freedom. There is even an American Independence Festival down the street from me in the Summer where they do reenactments and dress in the period clothing.
shop patriotic finds
around the web this week
I learned how to make a citronella candle from my Amy over at Amy Sadler Designs, I am definitely going to try this one before the ‘sqitos get me when I’m trying to relax outside this summer!
OK, time to get lost in some dreamy images…check out Emily at Le Cultivateur’s Ideas for using flags to style your mantle. I mean…can you even…just so pretty!!!
Are you looking for more Red, White, and Blue inspo?? Here’s a roundup of so many pretty ideas (including one of mine) over on The Cottage Market.
