Cottage On Bunker Hill | Weekly Rewind vol. 40

In: LIFESTYLE, Weekly Rewind

Hi Friends!! Welcome to my weekly rewind sharing what’s new here on the blog, cool things I’ve seen around the web that I think you will be interested in, and fun things that I have been doing in my life.

What’s New This Week

Last Sunday, within a couple of hours, I got the news that two of my blogging friends had passed away. I’m sure if you are avid blog readers or spend any time on Pinterest you have come across these sweet gals.

They were Michelle of The Painted Hinge and Paula of Sweet Pea. I’m still so sad that they are gone. We were all in a monthly blog group together (Thrifty Style Team).

Paula and I were also in a mastermind blogging group together for quite a while and I got the chance to meet her last Summer at a blogging conference. She had been battling cancer for 5 years…that girl fought like hell!

Sending my prayers to their families, I am just so sorry for your losses.

New on the Blog

I made an easy Spring flower arrangement of pretty white and yellow flowers. I swear you will hear the birds chirping and think it’s Spring…

Speaking of yellow…how about some Glazed Lemon Loaf Cake??? This is such a moist and delicious treat!! I always have the supplies on hand for this family favorite…and what’s even better is that it makes 2 loaves!!

I also put together 16 of My Best Spring DIY Projects. They are all easy and affordable too…you know I love budget-friendly decorating!!

Spring Finds at Walmart

I hit my local Walmart this weekend and there were so many new Spring and Summer items out! They had 2 giant displays of seeds…so if you are planning on gardening this season now would be the time to grab them. I also noticed a few new types of containers for seed starting compared to last year.

The outdoor garden decor aisle was fully stocked! There are so many stylish additions to the Better Homes and Gardens and Mainstays lines.

There are a bunch of outdoor topiaries.. some that had lights. Plus, lots of really nice outdoor lanterns. There were some cool outdoor woven lights too. I grabbed the light brown bunny statue and am going to give him a little Jen Howard makeover this week so stay tuned!!!

HERE ARE A FEW OF THE NEW ITEMS:

Walmart also added a ton of REALLY nice pillows!! They are stepping up their style game and some of the pillows are inspired by some high-end brands… I can’t find the beige rainbow one online but it is an Anthropologie dupe. The blue and white tapestry fabric pillow feels the same as my Pottery Barn pillow cover!! (it was faux down and is really squishy and soft…I wish it went with my decor!)

HERE ARE A FEW AVAILABLE ONLINE:

Ooooh, and look at the cutest little propagation station that I ordered from Walmart!! The glass vases are delicate but it was packaged really well for shipping. It was $14.98.

Coming this week…

I hit the thrift shop yesterday…and I found some goodies!! I’m transforming these silver-ish containers into something I’ve been crushing on from Magnolia.

I just finished a pretty project! I’ve had this one on my mind for a while now and finally got around to doing it. You can find it on the blog this Tuesday (Monday if I type really, really fast!!)

OK friends! The weekend is over and I’m officially heading in to change into my jammies! Mondays just come too quickly, don’t they??!!

I’m so sad for you to hear about the loss of TWO friends. Truly awful and I’m sending YOU a virtual hug. Friends of lost loved ones tend to get overlooked because, naturally, all the sympathy is aimed at their families, who I do feel desperately sorry for. To my namesake I’m sending my, love, sympathy and a virtual hug!

Jenny, thank you so much! Your kind words just lifted my spirits, I just posted the monthly post we all did together and just typed their names and was thinking about those sweet girls! Blessings back to you Jenny.
