Make a pretty garden-themed wreath using mini flower pots and artificial flowers that is perfect for Spring and Summer.
Hi, I’m Jennifer and I’m a wreath addict…seriously, I love a good wreath and I thankfully also love making them…because it saves me a boatload of money!! I’ve had this DIY mini flower pot wreath on my mind for a few months, I’ve seen a couple of similar wreaths online and want to create my own version to hang on my garden gate.

How To Make A Mini Flower Pot Wreath
Not only is this wreath super adorable…but it cost me less than $20 to make and you can get all the supplies at Walmart! ( I love one-stop shopping!!) First, go to the Walmart craft section and grab the mini flower pots, they come in a 3-pack for $1.97.
Then go to the floral rack in the craft aisle and you should find the lavender, baby’s breath, and greenery floral picks. Walmart also has 14″ grapevine wreaths, floral foam, floral wire, paint, and moss that you will need to make one of these wreaths yourself.
Michael’s craft store also carries the supplies if you have one closer to you (plus my Michael’s has same-day delivery…yikes, talk about dangerous!!)

Flower Pot Wreath Supplies
- 12- MINI FLOWER POTS
- 14″ GRAPEVINE WREATH (YOU CAN USE ANY LARGE SIZE)
- FLORAL PICKS OF YOUR CHOICE
- PAINT (I USED A WHITE & TEAL GREEN)
- FLORAL WIRE
- FLORAL FOAM BLOCK
- MOSS
Start By Painting The Pots
I’m using a 14″ grapevine wreath for this project and I used 12 mini flower pots.
For my wreath, I wanted to make the pots look a little aged so I painted them…you could totally leave them as is and they would look great too!
I lightly brushed on an off-white paint ( gently tapping off the excess paint before brushing it on the pots)
Then I went back and tapped on a greenish teal paint.

Attach Pots To The Wreath
Using green floral wire, I threaded it through the hole in the bottom of the pots and around the wreath and secured it in the back by twisting it until it was tight.
You could put all your pots going in one direction or mix it up as I did.
Fill With Flowers
Next, I turned on my glue gun. While that was heating I took a serrated knife and cut a block of floral foam into squares small enough to fit in the bottom of the pots.
I put a little hot glue on the bottom and sides of the floral foam and stuck it into the flower pot.
Now it was time for the flowers! For my wreath, I am using lavender, baby’s breath, and boxwood. Any small flower or greenery will work for this kind of wreath. Mini faux succulents look fantastic too!
Since you use only small pieces of the flower stems, you will only need 1 or 2 of each kind. I think I only used 1 of each stem actually.
Also, invest in a pair of floral wire snips…you will trash your scissors using them to cut through the wire on your stems!!
Once the pots were filled, I went back and glued in a little bit of Spanish moss to cover the green floral foam.
I added green moss between the pots on the wreath by just sticking pieces into the grapevine. Small pieces of greenery would look great or you could just leave it be!
Finished DIY Mini Flower Pot Wreath
Now it was time to head over to the garden and hand my wreath on my garden gate! Isn’t it cute??!!
Confession time….I’ve had the mini pots in the Walmart bag on my workshop table waiting to be made into this wreath!! Every time I open my garden gate I say to myself “Geez, you’ve got to get to that wreath!!”…
It’s the perfect addition to my garden!! You can see a peek of the potting bench I recently added.
I’ve done a ton of work to my garden this year…check out my expansion (my back is still sore after all that work!!)
