Come take a tour of my New England cottage style home decorated for Christmas.
For those of you that are new to Cottage On Bunker Hill…Hi! I’m Jennifer and I live in a small coastal New Hampshire town with my husband and boys in a renovated ranch. Now let’s get on to my Cottage Christmas home tour!!
Cottage Kitchen
I think we’ll start in my kitchen…because I spend like a gazillion hours in here every day!! Seriously, I have a small daycare and we spend so much time in here doing schoolwork and crafts…plus kids are always hungry!!
C’mon in…
The morning sun streams through my big kitchen window onto my dining table.
My corner hutch has been painted so…many…colors!! I love the dark green that it’s painted now.
On the corner hutch knob, I hung one of the dried orange slice ornaments that I made. It’s really easy to make them yourself at home.
My winter arrangement is a mix of real and faux stems. I cut a few fresh evergreen boughs and branches from my backyard and added them to my faux flowers and greens.
I love to bring natural elements into my designs.
I have such a crush on these dried pods!! They are so cool.
My kitchen area is small but mighty!! I have loads of cabinets and drawers…when I changed out all my hardware I realized just how many!!
Over my kitchen window, I hung 2 frosty garlands. I’ve had them for a few years and just love them so much…they were the first things I took out of my Christmas bins.
A fun red ticking wreath hangs in the center of my kitchen windows. I learned to make it from my friend Misty over at Back Porch Bliss…and it’s super easy and inexpensive to make!!
Berry picks and a frosty stem jazz up a faux Walmart plant.
I strung a few dried oranges around the garland. Aren’t the colors so pretty next to each other??
My coffee bar area is across from my windows. The faux tile stencil backsplash is still one of my favorite projects.

Cottage Christmas in the Living Room
My favorite place in the world is being at the ocean! We live a short drive to the beach and there’s nothing like the salty air to clear your head. Even in the winter…my husband and I have a New Year’s Day tradition of taking a walk early in the morning.
So it’s no surprise that the colors of the ocean inspire me and can be found throughout my home.
I kept my Christmas decor pretty simple in my living room this year.
An ocean blue vase is filled with a few snowy stems for a dramatic but simple effect, especially in front of the blues and whites of my abstract cloud painting.
I filled a blue glass bowl with a few frosty green bulbs. This bowl is usually where I display my sea glass collection.
This year I purchased a new Christmas tree…but I put my old one to good use out on my Christmas porch! Come back tomorrow and I’ll be sharing how I decorated my tree.
Wall Storage Unit
Oh my gosh, I love my Better Homes & Gardens cube storage organizers!! By day, I have a small home daycare and these cubes are full of all my toys! The cubes keep everything organized and when the kids go home at night it just looks like furniture in my living room.
Plus the tops are fun to decorate…
An old window frame is the perfect spot to hang my metal angel garland. I tucked in a couple of fresh spruce cuttings on top; I love the smell!
My vignette is a mix of fresh, faux, new and old. The glass trees are new…but let me tell you, I’ve almost broken them so many times already as I was moving them around!! I’m not touching them again until I pack them away!!
Fresh spruce boughs were the base for my vignette. Then I added giant pine cones and frosty white candlesticks. A mini faux tree and snowy braches finished my wintery scene.
An antique crate was the perfect home for a few tiny pine cones I found in my yard.
A snowy pine cone tree was tucked in a wooden tray with fresh boughs.
Next to the wall of storage you’ll find my Countdown To Christmas wall sign and a basket filled with wintery fun!

Christmas Entryway Decor
My entryway table is one of my favorite things to decorate! My mirror was a dump find…someone was actually going to throw this away, of course it didn’t look like this and it was a horrible green color!
How cute is this owl wreath!! I just checked and it is still in stock at Walmart (and it’s under $20!!)
You can see how I transformed my $5 lamp here.
My bark trees are from craftoutlet.com This place is a hidden gem for inexpensive craft/decor items! These trees are just $5-6!!
A wood cake stand is the perfect place to display them.
Vintage ice skates and a dough bowl candle finish off the tabletop.
One of my favorite flea market finds; an antique toolbox was filled with fresh boughs and lighted white branches on the bottom shelf.
I love how merry and bright my living room and entryway look during the afternoon! The days are so short now and I try and soak up as much of the sun as I can.
On the back of my front door, I updated my most popular craft from last year. For this year’s pine cone door swag, I used this beautiful gray-blue ribbon that I found at Walmart…I wish I had bought more because it’s so lovely!
I’m really digging all the natural elements in your decor, Jennifer! It’s lovely. I imagine that’s how most people decorated before life got complicated. It makes everything feel more cozy and magical. I’ve always been fascinated with dried pods as well, so it’s funny to hear you say that! (My kids are always hungry too, by the way.) Happy Holidays!
Thanks Crissy!! I love going out foraging for stuff too!! I have a few Scotch pines in the woods behind my house where I always find the best pine cones so it’s a little game to see how far up I can reach!!
Jennifer,
I loved your beautiful home decorated for Christmas! So happy to have been on this tour with you.
Thank you so much!!! It’s been fun touring and I’m still making my way through!!
All of your Christmas floral arrangements are just stunning!
Your home is so lovely! I love all the details. I’m all about bringing the natural elements in as well. And you’ve done a fabulous job!
Thanks Kim!!!
Jennifer, your home is so lovely, and beautifully decorated. Thank you for making and sharing the ticking wreath! Also, I’m envious of your short drive to the beach. 🙂 XOXO Misty
The red ticking made it to 3 spots..the wreath, in the garland, and on my dried orange ornaments!!! Thanks for the inspo this Christmas!! And I don’t think I could ever not live near the beach!!
Jen your home looks so beautiful! I love all the festive touches you added to your gorgeous home! xoxo
Awww, Thanks Stacy!
My vintage-loving eye spied your awesome divided crate and the tool caddy; awesome pieces to decorate with! I also love your wooden cake plate; think I need one of those in my life;) Such fun to see your home and get the tour! I’m jealous you’re so near the ocean; sounds wonderful. Enjoy the Merry!
You’d go crazy with all the little antique shops and vintage markets up and down the coast near me! I live about 25 min from both the Maine and Mass borders and you can find some real gems! The cake plate is BHG at Walmart and is $19 but has a vintage look to it.
Everything is so lovely! So warm! So cozy! So home! I just want to cozy up with a good book and a cup of coffee, followed by girl chat about all of your projects and adventures! Thank you for sharing! I’d love to make the yarn trees. Merry Christmas!😀
Thank you so much Debbie! You are so kind!!
Jennifer, we are on the same page–I have the same gingerbread sign, and also mixed faux, fresh, and dried, including oranges. Don’t they smell heavenly?! Your Christmas decor is lovely. Have a joyous Christmas season! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Jen! I love your home all drssed up for Christmas!! You did a wonderful job! I am absolutely doing dried oranges everywhere next year! I love how homey they make the space!! I’m sure making them smells amazing in the house too!! XoXo
Thanks so much Aliya!! My dried orange slice tutorial is in the works..stay tuned!!
Your home is so cozy and inviting- I love the touches of green on your tree and throughout! SO pretty!
Oh, Thank you Cassie!! Green is my jam!!
oh my goodness Jennifer, everything is stunning! I just love your holiday home tour. Your wooden advent calendar is so cute!
Jennifer, your home is stunning and you have a real eye for making gorgeous vignettes and beautiful, collected spaces! I would love to go junking and thrifting with you bc you have found some awesome treasures! I can’t believe you run a daycare with all this beautiful decor around!! I especially love your vignette about your wall cabinet, and how you displayed items on the found cabinet/ bench in your entryway!! It was a true delight to walk through your home this morning ❤ Oh, and I want to make your wood advent calendar next year but I stink at math (don’t even get me started on geometry!!), but maybe I can get Mr DIY to make it for me?! 😉🤞 Have a wonderful holiday season my sweet friend!!
Cindy, you are the sweetest! I’ve missed junking this year…all the good bazaars and flea markets were cancelled!! But sometimes I find things I forgot I had in the basement and it’s almost like I just went thrifting!!
Your home is decorated so beautifully for the holidays! I love those wintry prints above your kitchen table. My mom used to do an in-home daycare when we were growing up. It takes a special person to do that.💕
Thanks, Jen!! I changed out my regular botanicals and printed out these…for free, my favorite kind of DIY!!
Your home looks spectacular decked out for Christmas. I love the beautiful garlands over your kitchen window. (Wish I had a kitchen window to decorate!) The Lotus pods in your kitchen table centerpiece look wonderful with the other stems that you used. I love your countdown to Christmas DIY and I’ll bet that your daycare kiddos look forward to turning the wood slice over each day. I so much enjoyed your tour!
LOL, anything that requires the kids taking turns each day is always a trip!!! Thank you so much for your kind words Paula.
