Easy Cottage Style Easter Table Decorating Ideas

Let me show you the easy cottage-style Easter table and centerpiece I made using fresh Spring flowers.

This week I’m joining a few of my friends for their monthly virtual supper club. This month’s theme is Easter Brunch.

There is something about Springtime and Spring flowers that bring me so much joy! Maybe it’s because the winters are cold and white up here in New Hampshire…I just get so happy the first time I see tulips and pots of bright little blossoms!

Easter Brunch Tablescape

The inspiration for my Easter tablescape was a set of pink lily salad plates. When I am decorating there is usually one thing that is the catalyst for the rest of the space.

Now to combine Easter and flowers on my table…first let me show you the cute ornaments I made to embellish my napkin rings.

Clay Easter Egg Ornaments

Here’s a cute idea to embellish your napkins or napkin rings this Easter!

This is a quick DIY…under 5 minutes (plus the time it takes for the clay to dry). You will need some air-dry clay and a small Easter egg-shaped cookie cutter. I found a set for 98¢ in the Easter aisle at Walmart.

I only need 4 eggs for my place setting, but if you need more just roll out enough clay to make the cut-outs. Then I placed a few dried flower stems on top of the clay and rolled over the flowers lightly with my rolling pin. In a pinch, you could gently press flowers into the clay with your fingers too.

Next, I cut out the eggs from the clay and used the end of a straw to make a hole in the tops.

Once the clay Easter eggs dried overnight I added a thin piece of jute twine through the hole and tied them onto the woven water hyacinth napkin rings. Another option would be to string a thicker piece of twine through the egg ornament and then tie it around a cloth napkin and ditch the napkin ring altogether.

Easter Brunch Centerpiece

Let me show you the quick and pretty centerpiece I made! I used pots of pink primrose, a white pansy, and flowering hyacinth bulbs.

I’m using a white ceramic footed pedestal bowl to create this arrangement but any deep bowl will work, you just need it deep enough to fit the pots of flowers.

Step 1.

To the bottom of the bowl, I added a layer of small pebbles for drainage. Then I arranged my flowers and bulbs on top of the pebble layer…I just popped the primrose and pansy from their containers not disturbing the soil and added them to the pedestal bowl.

The flowering hyacinth bulbs are from Trader Joe’s. They sell them in little glass bulb vases for around $3.50.

Step 2.

Next, I filled around the flowers with a potting mix.

Then I wet down pieces of preserved moss and covered the dirt with them, I just ran them under the faucet and squeezed out the excess water. This will help retain the moisture in the arrangement without having to water it very frequently.

Step 4.

To finish off my cute Easter Brunch centerpiece I wrapped a length of grapevine garland around the top of the bowl and popped in a little porcelain bunny (Target dollar spot) and added a few branches of pussy willows for height in the arrangement.

Here’s the pretty arrangement! So simple to put together and looks so lovely on my table.

To be honest, it is a challenge decorating my small dining table! It’s the perfect size for my small dining area but not the perfect size for this girl who LOVES to add just…one…more…thing to everything I do!!

I kept the table setting very simple using a set of natural woven round placemats (round placemats seem to work best for me on this 42″ table). The placemats were topped with round dinner plates that I got on clearance at Walmart for…get this… .80¢ each!!! Talk about a bargain!!

Then I added the pretty pink lily scalloped salad plates topped with neutral-colored napkins in the woven napkin rings.
