Coastal Decor Ideas For Summer
Summer is here and living is easy! When you live in a colder climate you have to cherish these lovely, warm days. During the winter months, I create a cozy haven in my home but during the summer I love everything to feel and look light and airy. The decorating trends for Summer are all about that light and airy look. You can make your home feel like a Coastal retreat even if you live far away from the ocean by adding just a couple of pieces from the summer home decor trends.

home decor trend- driftwood toned accents
Think of the color of driftwood; light grayish, brown hues. You can freshen up your living room with an accent table or lamp by changing out a dark piece for something in a light natural tone.
Driftwood was my inspiration for a lamp that I recently refinished. I tried to mimic the tones and texture in my painting technique.

home decor trend- seaglass colors
I’ve been collecting pretty pieces of sea glass for as long as I can remember. I have jars full of pretty white, blue, and green glass. I’m always drawn to that aqua blue shade that comes to your mind when you think of sea glass. In fact, I’m typing this on my porch using an aqua pillow as my desk with my iced coffee on the little antique flea market table I painted aqua.
These calm, soothing shades just make it feel like summer. You can put fresh garden flowers in a translucent blue glass vase on your table or add a light blue throw onto your couch.
Sea glass colors are definitely my favorite decor trend this Summer!

Home Decor Trend- Blue Accents
I saw so many accent pieces in shades of blues on my recent trips to the big home decor stores. An easy way to get on board with this decor trend is to simply add a couple of new comfy throw pillows to your couch for a Summer nap (nothing like a good cat nap after a day at the beach!) or throw down blue accent rug to brighten up your entryway.
Wall art is another easy way to change the entire feel of a space by just replacing one thing, and the best part is that it doesn’t have to be expensive because there are so many budget-friendly options out there if you know where to look!
I love the look of abstract coastal scenes. They always have such a calming and serene vibe to them.
I painted my own version of a coastal abstract awhile back; it was a fun and budget-friendly way to make a big piece of wall art. My home is a blend of blues, grays, and greens.

I’m ready to kick back and relax for the next couple of months and enjoy this Summer; I hope you are too!
