Jennifer Howard | Cottage on Bunker Hill

Do you love the look of pressed flowers but don't have the time or patience to dry them the traditional way? Here is a quick and easy method for preserving the beauty of your favorite blooms!

Choose Flowers:

This drying method works best with less bulky flowers.  Pansies, daisies, violas, dianthus, cosmos, zinnias, & lavender are good choices.

01

Prepare Flowers

On a paper towel lined plate place the flower stems so they aren't touching. Press the flowers gently to flatten a bit.

02

Cover

Cover the flowers with another paper towel and then place a plate on top to press it down.

03

Micowave

Microwave in 30 second intervals. Check progress as you go. Microwave cooking times vary so much!

04 How To Tell They Are       Done

When flowers are done they will feel dry and papery.

It took about 2 minutes for these flowers to be pressed!

Drying and pressing flowers in the microwave also maintains the original colors of the florals!
