How to Dry Flowers in the Microwave

Jennifer Howard | Cottage on Bunker Hill

Did you know that you can dry and press flowers in the microwave??

I didn't believe it either...but it works! Let me show you how to do it.

Flowers:

This drying method works best with more delicate flowers.  Pansies, violas, dianthus, or lavender are good choices.

What to Do:

01

Arrange Flowers

On a paper towel lined plate place the flower stems so they aren't touching. Press the flowers gently to flatten a bit.

What to Do:

02

Cover

Cover the flowers with another paper towel and then place a plate on top to weigh it down.

03

Micowave

Place the dishes in the microwave and start. Check the progress every 30 seconds.

How They Should Look:

When flowers are done they will feel dry and papery.

Dried Flowers

It took around 2 minutes for these to dry, but every microwave is different. Just keep checking.

Dried Flower Idea

For a pretty Spring idea, I glued the flowers onto a piece of cardstock and put in a small frame.
