DIY Garden Scarecrow: A Fun and Easy Project

Jennifer Howard | Cottage on Bunker Hill

This step-by-step tutorial shows you how to make a garden girl scarecrow that's more about charm than critter-scaring!

01. Materials

The first step is to make the scarecrow's frame. You can use any type of wood that you have on hand, but scrap wood from the garage is a great option.

02. Frame

Cut two pieces of wood to the desired height of the scarecrow.  Attach with a screw about a third of the way down.

Take a cheap tomato cage and flip it upside down and add a tutu. Put the wood scarecrow frame in the center.  Use a hammer to bang it into the ground.

03

Add Shirt

Dress with a button-down shirt. Put the sleeves over the cross piece of wood to create arms.

04

Apron

Add a pretty floral apron to go with the garden theme.

Finish off with a hat, garden gloves, & a basket for a whimsical look.
