Air Dry Clay Hearts Story

Jennifer Howard | Cottage on Bunker Hill

Here is a pretty idea using air-dry clay!

The clay hearts are imprinted with dried flowers. These would make a pretty bridal shower favor too!

Roll Out Clay

Roll clay to about 1/4 inch thickness. I use a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking

What to do:

01

Add Flowers

Scatter dried flower stems. I'm using baby's breath & seeded eucaplyptus

What to do:

02

Remove Flowers

Remove flowers.  Use a toothpick to lift away any pieces of flowers left behind.

What to do next:

03

Cut Heart Shapes

With a cookie cutter. I tried to cut the hearts with the flowers facing upwards.

Don't forget

04

Make Hole

Use straw to make a hole for hanging the hearts.

Let Clay Dry

Place the clay hearts on a baker's cooling rack to dry.  The air can circulate and clay will dry faster.

 Paint the Hearts

You could leave the hearts natural or paint them when dried. I used a gloss white spray paint, you could use gloss acrylic & brush it on too.

Finish Up:

06

Use Jute Twine

Fold a 24" length of jute in half.  Run loop through clay heart;tighten. I also added a pink bead.
