Nana's Italian Cookies

This was my Nana's very favorite cookie! I bake them every Christmas in remembrance of her.

Let’s get started!

COOKIE DOUGH: – 1/2 cup melted butter (cooled) – 3/4 cup sugar – 1/4 cup milk – 2 eggs – 1 tsp anise extract – 2 3/4 cup flour – 2 1/2 tsp baking powder – 1/4 tsp salt Preheat oven to 325°

MIX

Add the melted butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and anise extract to your stand mixer.

Beat

Beat the ingredients until they are combined.

Add Dry Ingredients

2 ¾cup flour 2½ teaspoons baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt  Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until blended.

Scoop Dough

Either grease your cookie sheets or use a silicone mat. Scoop 2 tablespoons of dough onto sheet for each cookie.

Bake

Bake for 21-24 minutes until bottoms are slightly golden.

Make Glaze

– 1 cup confectioners sugar – 1 tsp anise extract – 4 tsp milk – WHISK THE GLAZE INGREDIENTS UNTIL BLENDED

Dip Cookies

Dip tops of cookies in the anise glaze and sprinkle with nonpareils.
