Affordable Home Decor: Upcycle a Lamp

Jennifer Howard | Cottage on Bunker Hill

Shopping at thrift stores has become increasingly popular in recent years There are so many great pieces of home decor to be found at a fraction of the cost of new items. Let me show you how I upcycled a thrift store lamp!

The first step is to find the right lamp to upcycle.  A lamp that is in good condition and has a unique shape or design will work best.

Painting the Lamp

The next step is to choose your paint. I recommend using spray paint.  I gave the lamp a coat of black paint as a primer because of the shiny finish on the lamp

To create a expensive looking lamp I am going to add stone textured spray paint.

Stone Textured Paint

This is a cool product to have on hand! It works great to transform cheap vases too!

After the stone paint was dry I grabbed a dark green spray paint to finish the lamp off.
